Maharashtra Covid-19 tally jumps to 748 with 113 new cases, death toll at 45
MUMBAI : Maharashtra on Saturday reported 113 new Covid-19 cases today, taking the total tally of affected patients to 748 with 13 patients succumbing to the virus. Eight of the deceased were from Mumbai.
The current death toll of the state is 45 while 56 people have shown complete recovery so far.
Majority of the deceased did not have any international travel history but they also suffered from pre-existing health conditions.
A thorough search of citizens who had attended the religious gathering at Banglewali Masjid, Nizamuddin in early March is underway at the level of all districts and municipal corporations. Seven people out of these have been found positive until now in the state. Two each from these are from Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad and Ahmednagar and one is from Hingoli. Out of their contacts, 5 have been found positive in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
As per the guidance from Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. Total 519 teams are working in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation area and 439 teams in Pune Municipal Corporation area. 210 teams are doing house-to-house surveillance in the Nagpur corporation area and 196 teams have been deployed in Navi Mumbai area. There are 3078 teams working across the state and surveillance of over 10 lakh population has been done.
